WiiHackr’s Moving!

Hey everyone!

This’ll be (most likely) the last post on WiiHackr…
… .wordpress.com, because we’re moving to a new site! If you want to see the new site, click here. The new site’ll contain all the old posts, so, hopefully, you can still read our posts from the days of, now, old.
This is Zee, saying goodbye to WordPress!

Storytime with Mine: How I bricked my Wii and got a free repair

Welcome to Storytime with Mine, where I tell you about funny/weird/interesting stories about me using homebrew and just my Wii in general.

So here I am. In WiiMod. For whatever reason, I felt like downgrading my Wii to 4.1 or 4.0 (I can’t remember). So I carry on using the downgrade tool in WiiMod. There I am enjoying my day when it says downgrade successful. However, deep inside, the downgrade actually failed. Little that I knew, it never downgraded IOS60 (The System Menu IOS for 4.0 and 4.1) to the non-stub version, which I didn’t know at the time. So I thought the upgrade was successful and rebooted my Wii. After that, whenever I turned on my Wii, it would stay on No Signal. I phoned up Nintendo and they said send it in for repair. About a week or so I got it back from Nintendo. The Wii was wiped completely (lost all data), but it worked. Nintendo didn’t charge me at all. After that, I’ve had no problems with my Wii since.

Wiimmfi gets some love too :)

In the past, I stated that I wouldn’t make a Wiimmfi tutorial because it was too complicated. However, I tried patching a game myself, and it actually isn’t that hard so if you’re a Wiimmfi lover, this is good news for you. The tutorial will be coming up in the coming days.

On a side note, this is also the first post in the Wiimmfi News category. Yay.

The Two-Faced WAD

I guess I’ll treat these little side articles as something like a magazine, I guess.

If you know what WAD (Where’s all the data) files are, you may have heard of only one kind. A WAD file is made to be like an iso, meaning that it holds all the data. You probably downloaded a wad for USBLoader GX or something, or you have a copy of Doom 2 lying around. Me mentioning Doom probably got you. Every Doom game up until the 2016 re-release also used WADs for their game, in fact, Doom invented them. Now imagine shooting demons when your Wii was supposed to run USBLoader or something. The WADs you use on the Wii do the same, just made in a different way. They’re designed to hold all the data, so Nintendo had no choice if they wanted to use the file type. I want to tell you one more thing, though.

Never use a Doom WAD on a Wii, just don’t. If I don’t know what it does, you shouldn’t do it because I’m on the Internet.

The Unnecessary Entrance

Hello there!

If you don’t know, I’m Zee. I’m the new addition to the, now, Wiihackr duo! I’ll be the one giving out news on the stuff Mine misses. In other words, everything that isn’t Riiconnect24. I’ll also be some sort of written talk show thing when something strikes my fancy. That’s all I got going for now! I hope you enjoy what I write, and have a good night, day, whatever! MineMasterHD’s response below.

Hopefully you’re okay with this.

MineMasterHD’s note:

Yay! Hopefully you can cover Wiimmfi while I cover RiiConnect24. That would make it a lot easier. I have a tip for you. Don’t end your posts with some signoff. (For example, ~Zee) This is because when we get to be on the Gaming Channel, it wouldn’t make sense to have a signoff.

New Member of the WiiHackr Duo!

Hey there! So for the time that this blog has been up, I have been managing it all by myself resulting in months in between new posts and random delays. I’ve been getting tired of not getting enough content out to you all so today, I am announcing that we are going to be having a new team member. Meet Zee, a person who I met on the RiiConnect24 Skype Chat. He says that by joining the team, he can make WiiHackr quote “I can make it more active with my presence”. By the sound of that, I’m pretty excited too.
